Yelena in Moscow!
Tuesday, April 17th, 2012
As part of Moscow day of cultural heritage Yelena will be doing a performance at the on April 18th!
Program Art24 focuses on contemporary works by emerging artists.
Curator is Christina Steinbrecher, director of Art Moscow, Director of Innovation Prize Moscow, Art Director at the Central House of Artists.

The piece combines video performance that utilizes miniature and edible objects, textand sound, using the 1938 Soviet film “New Moscow”, as a point of departure. The film was made at the height of Stalin’s power; its narrative is structured around theanimated architectural models of illusory Moscow in the Glorious Communist Future.By juxtaposing a proposed architectural utopia and an a priori virtual nature of filmic narrative, I attempt to make visible the seams of the physical and the imaginary in our collective unconscious, and to parse the semiotics of the unconscious back to the forms, images, geometric shapes and symbols.
