Fellow Liana Finck will be presenting at the thirteenth meeting of the New York Comics & Picture-story Symposium, along with comic artist and writer Ted Stearn, and facilitated by Nick Sousanis. The Museum at Eldridge Street and The Forward are teaming up to explore the classic advice column in the modern world. Randy Cohen, New York Times’ former columnist of the Ethicist, and Emily Yoffe, Slate’s Dear Prudence advice columnist, will discuss our culture’s need for advice, the influence of the Bintel Brief on their own work, and how our problems have not changed as much as we think. Gabrielle Birkner, Director of Digital Media for The Forward, will moderate.

The Museum at Eldridge Street will present original drawings from Liana’s Six Points project, A Bintel Brief, her debut graphic novel based on The Forward’s beloved advice column. Liana’s single-page vignettes bring to life the heartbreaking and humorous dilemmas of young immigrants seeking advice on everything from matters of the heart to new world manners.
Opening night is Wednesday, March 21st, at 7:00pm, and will run through May 31st!

Liana’s Six Points Project, The Bintel Brief will be featured in an ongoing exhibition at Sixth and I Historic Synagogue in Washington, DC. The exhibit will feature 20 of Liana’s images as well as additional information about The Bintel Brief.
